Raptor Mining was founded to address the need for environmentally friendly
mining processes in rural parts of the world.
After a trip to the region to assess the potential for a new mining company, founder Ernie Valle found that the current mining practices in Honduras were causing incredible damage to both the people and the environment of this beautiful country.
To put it simply: artisanal gold mining is one of the most significant sources of mercury release into the environment. This traditional process typically creates mercury gas, which is inhaled by miners and their families. Any mercury that is not inhaled settles into the environment and transforms into methylmercury, one of the most dangerous neurotoxins in existence.
At Raptor Mining, we utilize smart, safe technologies and appropriate equipment to recover mercury and gold without creating dangerous fumes and pollutants.
Our system recovers 99.9% of the mercury and gold contained in tailings. It’s not magic; it’s just common sense, good equipment and experience. In addition, we are working hard to build and leverage relationships with local community leaders to find our place as an ethical, global business invested in thoughtful solutions for the modern mining age.
We are the leading company in Honduras capable of recovering gold and mercury through our equipment and technology, and we take this responsibility seriously. In addition, a portion of our profits support the needs of the communities our mining company serves. We are committed to helping relieve the impact of mining-related environmental hazards, and we’re excited about setting a new standard for eco-friendly mining in around the world.
